Log Cabin Day

Celebrate Log Cabin Day at Montcalm Heritage Village June 24 from 1 to 5 p.m. Visit the village’s Shoen Log Cabin, built in 1860, for a family friendly afternoon. Events include:

  • 9:30 a.m.-noon Pie drop off, Bandstand/Gazebo
  • 1 p.m. Program kickoff and judging of pies, Bandstand/Gazebo
  • 1-5 p.m. Building tours, Gaffield School, Shoen Log Cabinand McBride Depot
  • Wool spinning demonstration, Shoen Log Cabin
  • 1-5 p.m. Concessions, Pavilion
  • 2-3 p.m. Lumberjack Show with Sheepshank Sam, Shoen Log Cabin lawn
  • 3-4 p.m. Fire band, Bandstand/Gazebo
  • 3-5 p.m. Children’s crafts, Shoen Log Cabin lawn

Enter the Montcalm Heritage Village Log Cabin Day Pie Baking Contest. This contest is open to all ages. There is no entry fee. Submit two pies and a copy of the recipe June 24 between 9 a.m. and noon. The judging starts at 1 p.m. Judges will score the overall appearance, texture and flavor; crust; and filling. Contestants will participate in one of two categories: adults 14 and older, and children 13 and younger. Prizes will be awarded for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd places in the adult and children’s categories. Click here for entry form and complete contest rules.
