MCC announces noncredit course offerings for Nov. 1-14

 

Explore mindfulness, 3D printing, how to create a hand-painted luminary, learn CPR and more through Montcalm Community College’s career development and personal enrichment courses.

Art/Music

Participants in “Painted Bottle Luminary Workshop” will learn how to create a unique hand painted luminary out of a recycled and repurposed wine bottle just in time for the holidays. All supplies are provided. This course is taught by Sue Moss on Saturday, Nov. 6, from 9 a.m. to 12 noon on MCC’s Greenville campus. The cost is $30.

Health

“Heartsaver CPR AED” is an instructor-led course that teaches adult and child CPR and AED use, infant CPR and how to relieve choking in adults, children and infants. This course is taught by Jason Zamarron on Tuesday, Nov. 2, from 6 to 9 p.m. on MCC’s Greenville campus. The cost is $65 and includes the cost of the book, mask and card.

“CPR/BLS Health Care Provider” course will prepare a wide variety of health care professionals to recognize several life-threatening emergencies and to provide CPR, use an AED and relieve choking in a safe, timely and effective manner. The course is taught by Jason Zamarron on Tuesday, Nov. 30, from 8 a.m. to 12 noon on MCC’s Greenville campus. The cost is $65 and includes the cost of the book, mask and card.

“Koru Basic Mindfulness” will teach individuals a type of meditation in which you focus on being intensely aware of what you’re sensing and feeling in the moment, without interpretation or judgment. The course is taught online by Kire Wierda and is free, but pre-registration is required. Classes are on Thursdays from Nov. 4 through Dec. 2 from 2:45 to 4 p.m., with no class on Thanksgiving day.

Technology

“Introduction to 3D Printing” is designed as an introduction to 3D printing process. Attendees will learn what a 3D printer is, how the printers work, and the steps involved in printing a 3D object. The course is taught by David Nelson on Thursday, Nov. 4, from 6 to 9 p.m. on MCC’s Greenville campus. The cost is $29.

“Learning to Use a 3D Printer – Part 1” is a two-night workshop that will focus on basic 3D printer setup, plastic selection and software settings for printing 3D objects. Learn how to find, download and use pre-made designs. Attendees will also use Tinkercad design software (free) to learn basic object design. The course is taught by David Nelson on Thursdays, Nov. 11 and 18 from 6 to 9 p.m. on MCC’s Greenville campus. The cost is $49.
