Centurions defeat Kuyper College in home opener

 

Montcalm Community College’s volleyball team came out victorious in their home opener against Kuyper College on Sept. 3. 

Every Centurion volleyball student-athlete stepped on the court during the match and 10 different players scored at least one point. The match ended with scores of 25-12, 25-17, 25-6. 

Sophomore Maia Sexton led the Centurions offensively recording a match high eight kills, followed by Sophomore Piper Groesser, who recorded six kills hitting an impressive .571 for her career best hitting percentage.  

Sophomore setter Tiana Whitacre led the team in assists with 18, and digs with 13, recording her third double-double (assists and digs) of the season.  

Missy Goslin, Katelyn Bignall, Kelsey Antcliff, Alanna Kent and Maia Sexton all recorded a block for the centurions to contribute defensively.  

Sophomore Lily Bohen recorded four services during the third and final set to lead the Centurions in service aces for the match.  

The win improves the Centurions record to 2-5 overall and will take on Kuyper College again in Grand Rapids on Thursday, September 5 at 6:30 p.m.
