MCC named a military-friendly school for the 10th year
For the tenth consecutive year, Montcalm Community College has been honored by G.I. Jobs magazine on its list of Military Friendly Schools at the Gold level for its commitment to supporting the needs of student veterans and their dependents as they word to achieve their goals.
The list recognizes the top 15 percent of colleges, universities and trade schools doing the most to embrace America’s military service members and veterans as students.
Schools on the 2024 Military Friendly Schools list offer additional benefits to student veterans. The more than 1,800 schools on the list were recognized for their efforts to recruit and retain military and veteran students.
MCC President Dr. Bradley J. Barrick said he is proud of the college’s efforts to engage former members of the military and help them achieve their educational goals as they transition into civilian careers.
“As a veteran myself, we want veterans to come to MCC and feel welcome, knowing that their training in the military has mattered,” Dr. Barrick said. “At MCC, we strive to offer coursework and programs to help veterans attain an advanced credential that will help with their re-entry into the workforce.
“We are proud of the service our veterans have provided. What we can do to help them is small in comparison to the sacrifices they have made to serve our country,” he said.
The list of Military Friendly Schools® was compiled through extensive research and a data-driven survey of more than 8,800 VA-approved schools nationwide. Methodology, criteria and weighting for the list were developed with the assistance of an Academic Advisory Board consisting of educators from across the country.
