MCC’s Commencement is May 2

13 nursing students will be honored during May 1 pinning ceremony 

 

SIDNEY – Jusith Amparo, DO, General Surgeon at Corewell Health West Greenville Hospital, and Kailey Ingraham, MCC student who also serves as president of the college’s Student Government Council, will address graduates and their guests during MCC’s 58th Annual Commencement Ceremony on May 2. 

The ceremony will begin at 6 p.m. in the gymnasium in the Activities Building on the college’s Sidney campus. Doors will open at 5 p.m. A nursing pinning ceremony to recognize the college’s 13 graduating nursing students will be May 1 at 6 p.m. in the gymnasium. 

Dr. Amparo has practiced general surgery for 28 years. She was born in the Philippines and immigrated to Guam when she was 10 years old. At age 17, she moved to California and attended college at University of California Davis. She went on to attend medical school at Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine in Missouri. She completed her general surgery residency in Detroit. In 1997, she moved to Greenville to start her practice.  

During her career, Dr. Amparo has been regarded for her work. In 2024, she was presented the Ralph N. Rogers Physician Excellence Award, which is awarded to a physician who demonstrates exemplary commitment to Corewell Heath’s mission, vision and values. In 2025, she received the Fred and Lena Meijer Spirit of Caring Award, which is presented to an individual who demonstrates remarkable community support and participation. Dr. Amparo has been a member of the Corewell Health Foundation Greenville Hospital for 16 years, which she says is one of her most fulfilling activities. In addition, in 2025, Dr. Amparo was presented the Outstanding Volunteer Faculty Teacher of the Year award by the Grand Rapids Campus of MSU College of Human Medicine Class of 2025. She has mentored and trained physician assistant students, medical students and family practice residents for many years and says she enjoys teaching and finds it rewarding. 

A proud first-generation college student, Ingraham was elected as MCC’s Student Government Council President in spring 2025. She has exemplified leadership, perseverance, and a commitment to student advocacy, embracing challenges with determination and a vision for positive change. Ingraham graduated from Greenville High School in 2023, where she was a high-honors student and student-athlete. While dual-enrolled at MCC during high school, Ingraham discovered her love for MCC’s inclusive culture and decided to enroll at MCC after high school.  

During Commencement, Ingraham will earn the MI Transfer Pathway Business Associate of Science degree and plans to transfer to Ferris State University in the fall to pursue a bachelor’s degree in marketing. She is a member of MCC’s Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society and attended the Michigan Community College Association (MCCA) Leadership Retreat. In addition to college, Ingraham owns The KJ Marketing Method, contracting as a Marketing Strategist for local Realtor Andrea Belding and managing Flat River Associates – Real Estate Collective. She is also an entrepreneur and team leader with Mary Kay, where she helps others grow their businesses. 

In addition to recognizing the college’s candidates for degrees and certificates during the ceremony, the Leslie K. Morford Faculty Recognition Award and Outstanding Adjunct Faculty Award will be presented.
