Clay Target Shooting team kicks off season

Montcalm Community College’s Clay Target Shooting team competed in a virtual meet on Saturday, Sept. 16, at the Flat River Conservation Club. 

There are two disciplines, Trap and Skeet shooting, and two rounds of each with the top score being 25 for each round. The top overall score is 100 points. 

David Johnston, of Lowell High School, shot a 45 in Trap and a 42 in Skeet for a total of 87 points. Drake Syrjala, of Lakeview High School, shot a 38 in Trap and a 42 in Skeet for a total of 80 points. Cy Vickery, of Greenville High School, shot a 38 in Trap and a 39 in Skeet for a total of 77 points. Oren Anderson, of Carson City Crystal High School, shot a 37 in Trap and a 26 in Skeet for a total of 63 points.  

Pheasants Forever donated the ammunition for the competition. 

The team’s next meet is at 11 a.m. on Sept. 23 at Flat River Conservation Club.
