Flat River Conservation Club chosen as MCC’s clay target shooting range
SIDNEY – Flat River Conservation Club (FRCC) in Greenville will be home to Montcalm Community College’s clay target shooting team.
MCC Athletic Director Hunter Redman said the club was selected because they are in close proximity to MCC, making it easy for locals to make it for spectating and for the student-athletes to travel to practice.
“I am very excited about this partnership because it is offering our student-athletes, and possibly other students, a club to continue their passion for firearms and shooting sports,” Redman said. “They have even offered other services for athletes to use their facilities outside of practice or team-related activities.”
David Magirl, president of the Flat River Conservation Club, said partnering with MCC falls in line with what the club is all about.
“FRCC is dedicated to the conservation of our natural resources and the education of the public in the safe and responsible use of firearms along with hunter safety, amateur sports and support of our community,” Magirl said. “I can think of no better example to demonstrate this. The youth are our future.”
FRCC offers two trap fields, two skeet fields, a five stand field, as well as 50 and 100 target sporting clays courses. The club also has pistol ranges of seven and 25 yards and rifle ranges from 50 yards to 300 yards. They have CPL classes and hunter safety classes. The buildings are available for open houses, weddings, memorials and any other events you can imagine.
“Honestly, there is something for everyone,” Magirl said.
The club is located on M-91 and has facilities on both sides of the road. Shotgun sports are on the west side and pistol and rifle shooting are on the east side. The shotgun side is open to the public. It is open Wednesdays from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m., Thursdays from 6 to 9 p.m. and Sundays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. For more information, visit their website at flatriverconservationclub.org.
