MCC Centurions volleyball upset No. 3 Delta College
The Montcalm Community College volleyball team upset the No. 3 nationally ranked (NJCAA DIII) Delta College Pioneers in a Michigan Community College Athletics Association (MCCAA) Northern Conference match up on Thursday, Sept. 21, in away play. The Centurions defeated the pioneers with scores of 25-23, 26-24, 15-25, 25-23.
The Centurions were led by Freshman Maia Sexton, who record a team high 12 kills. Setting up the offense was Freshman Tiana Whitacre who recorded 35 assists. Leading the way defensively was Freshman Libero Lily Bohen who picked up 18 digs and Freshman Middle Blocker Abbey Pohl who recorded 5 blocks. Freshman Middle Blocker Kelsey Antcliff recorded a team high of 3 service aces.
With the win, the Centurions improve to 6-6 overall and 2-2 in conference and are now in 3rd place in the MCCAA Northern Conference.
UP NEXT: The Centurions travel to Escanaba to take on Bay College on Monday, Sept. 25, at 6:30 p.m. The Next home volleyball match is Wednesday, Sept. 27, against Grand Rapids Community College on MCC’s Sidney campus. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. and play begins at 6:30 p.m.
