MCC Cross Country runners finish strong at Lansing Invitational

Montcalm Community College’s cross country runners had a strong showing at the Lansing Invitational on Friday, Sept. 22, at Grand Woods Park in Lansing.

Leading the women in the 5,000 meters in the field of 207 runners was Annette Fare with a time of 21:39.90; followed by Carley Lynch with a time of 24:59.40; and Georgia Jurden with a time of 28:36.60.

Andrew Hardy ran hard for the Centurions in the men’s field of 216 runners, finishing the 8,000-meter race with a time of 31:06.10.

Head Coach Kevin Sweeney said he’s proud of the athletes who all worked hard and ran well on a hot day.

“Our runners ran another tough race, competing from schools across Michigan,” Sweeney said. “All four of our athletes ran very well.

“It was a hot day, and there were some hills on the course. I am very proud of our runners as they continue to work hard and make improvements,” he added.

Their next meet is Friday, Sept. 29, when they participate in the St. Clair Invite, in St. Clair, Mich. The meet starts at 12:45 p.m.
