MCC offers noncredit classes in October 2024
Learn about stained glass, welding art, history of Montcalm County, how to play piano or guitar and more during Montcalm Community College’s October noncredit courses.

Did you ever wonder what it takes to make a stained-glass window? If so, “Beginner Stained-Glass: Butterfly” is the class for you! No experience required and you will leave with a new piece of art for your home. The class is on October 3 from 5 to 9 p.m. on MCC’s Greenville campus. The cost is $65.
“Instant Piano for Hopelessly Busy People” will teach you the secrets of playing the way professionals do – using chords. The chord method is lots of fun and easier to learn than reading notes. The class is on October 5 from 9 a.m. to 12 noon on Zoom. The cost is $59.
“Instant Guitar for Hopelessly Busy People” is a crash course to teach you basic chords and get you playing along with your favorite songs right away! The class is on October 5 from 1 to 3:30 p.m. on Zoom. The cost is $59.
From Academy Road to Youngman Road, dive into the namesakes and history of county roads in “How Montcalm Country Roads Got Their Names.” This class is on October 9 from 4 to 6 p.m. on MCC’s Greenville campus. The cost is $35.
Ready to launch your business as a sole proprietor or LLC? The class “Forming Your LLC or DBA” will discuss business entities and explain the documents needed to form and register a business, cover basic bookkeeping, tax implications and more. The class is on October 9 from 6 to 7 p.m. on MCC’s Greenville campus. The course is free, but pre-registration is required.

The course is on October 16 from 12:30 to 2:30 p.m. on MCC’s Greenville campus. The cost is $125.
Join us for an evening of joyous music and community spirit at our “Community Sing-Along!” This event is open to all ages and musical abilities, inviting everyone to come together and celebrate the power of song. The sing-along is on October 16 from 6 to 8 p.m. on MCC’s Greenville campus. This is a free event, but pre-registration is required.
Whether you’re a start-up or established, finding resources for your business can be challenging. The SBA Michigan district office and SBDC West Michigan Region invite you to attend an informative discussion to learn about “How SBA Can Help Secure Funding for Your Business.” This class is on October 17 from 12 noon to 1 p.m. on MCC’s Greenville campus. The course is free, but pre-registration is required.
Spend a Saturday celebrating fall and creating a painting during “Cookies and Canvas Workshop.” Participants will receive step by step directions to complete an 11 x 14 canvas. The workshop is on October 19 from 9 a.m. to 12 noon on MCC’s Greenville campus. The cost is $35.
If you’ve already taken a stained-glass class and are looking to expand your skills, “Intermediate Stained-Glass: Sunflower” is the class for you! There will be no introduction to supplies and tools, but guided help will be available as you work on the project. This class is on October 22 and 24 from 5 to 9 p.m. on MCC’s Greenville campus. The cost is $149.
“Historic Churches of Montcalm County” will delve into the history of churches of Montcalm County from Amble to Wyman. Discover the architectural beauty, cultural significance and historical evolution of these sacred spaces that have shaped the community's spiritual landscape. The class is on October 23 from 4 to 6 6 p.m. on MCC’s Greenville campus. The cost is $35.
“Learning to Paint with the Grid Method” is designed for beginner artists aspiring to improve their drawing accuracy and painting skills. In just a couple hours, you’ll be able to reproduce a beautiful image with your own style and touch. The class is on October 24 from 6 to 8 p.m. on MCC’s Greenville campus. The cost is $44.
Unleash your creativity and bring art to life through the timeless technique of mosaic crafting in the “Creative Mosaics” class. Whether you’re a beginner, or have some experience, this class will help you develop your skills and create a beautiful, unique glass mosaic to take home. The class is on October 26 and November 2 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on MCC’s Sidney campus. The cost is $75.
We see them everywhere: discount- to high-end clothing stores; home decor; gifts for all occasions; and even Paris fashion shows! “Crocheting Granny Squares” will teach you a few basic crochet stitches: chain stitch, single crochet, and double crochet. Once you know them, there’s no end to what you can make! The class is on October 26 and November 2 from 9 a.m. to 12 noon on MCC’s Greenville campus. The cost is $44.
MCC’s Alumni & Friends Choir is now accepting new singers for their fall performance of Handel’s “Messiah.” Choir rehearsals are on Saturday’s beginning October 26 through November 23 (no practice on November 30) from 10 a.m. to 12 noon on MCC’s Greenville campus. The performance will take place at the Greenville High School Performing Arts Center on December 7. The cost to join the choir is $15.
