MCC students qualify for national BPA competition
Three Montcalm Community College students earned high honors at the Business Professionals of America (BPA) State Leadership Conference at Davenport University in Grand Rapids on Feb. 10.
Elizabeth Armstrong placed second in College Accounting, Petra Mark placed second in Prepared Speech and fourth in Parliamentary Procedure Concepts, and Mary McQuarrie placed fourth in Financial Math & Analysis Concepts. McQuarrie also qualified for the second-round presentation in the National Leadership Virtual Promotional Photography event to be held later this month.
The students competed against Davenport University, Northwood University, Alma College, and Bay College.
Due to their high rankings, all three women qualified for the Chicago BPA National Leadership Conference in May.
MCC’s Computer Information Systems (CIS) Lab Coordinator Kristen Diehl and Business Instructor Bill Bishop, who serve as BPA Club advisors, accompanied the students to the competition. Bishop was recognized for 10 years of service as a BPA advisor.
