Men's golf team wins Delta College Invitational
Montcalm Community College’s men’s golf team took first place at the Delta College Invitational on Sept. 27 at Bay Valley Golf Club in Bay City with a team score of 310.
Oakland Community College also finished with a 310 team score, but the Centurions won the tie breaker based on how the 5th golfer finished.
Seven golfers competed for the Centurions including Zach Johnson (83), Ethan Johnson(75), Mason Blair (82), Ryan Clingenpeel (79) and Jerald Brownell (74) counting toward the team score. Golfing as individuals were Kenny Mitchell (79) and Landen Doughtery (75).
Ryan Clingenpeel had to wade into the water to hit a crucial shot, a decision that ultimately saved him one stroke and secured the team’s victory.
The Centurions competed against teams from Delta College, Glen Oaks Community College, Henry Ford Community College, Jackson College, Kirtland Community College, Mott Community College, Muskegon Community College, Oakland Community College, St. Clair County Community College and Schoolcraft College.
