Volleyball player Lauren Rowe Makes Her Mark at MCC
Lauren Rowe, a freshman from Portland, has already made her mark as a student-athlete at Montcalm Community College.
She was named Northern Conference Offensive Player of the Week by the Michigan Community College Athletic Association after the volleyball team’s opening weekend of play. During the team’s first-ever tournament in Rockford, Ill., in August, Rowe had 33 kills, 36 digs, and one ace.
“Being named offensive player of the week meant a lot to me because it’s been 40 years since MCC has had sports, so it is cool to help make a name for the program,” Rowe said.
Rowe is studying business at MCC. She hopes to one day start her own business.”
Her favorite part of MCC is being able to play volleyball and be with her friends.
“My favorite part of volleyball is having fun with my teammates and coach,” Rowe said.
Rowe is passionate about volleyball and playing in the outside hitter position.
“I love the feel of winning and getting a good hit or dig,” she said.
In her spare time, she likes to go shopping and spend time with her family, friends, and her dog, Oakley.
When she was younger, she used to make YouTube videos about her Calico critters.
Her personal hero is her mom.
“She is always there for me,” Rowe said.
Rowe loves bacon, Morgan Wallen, and the Detroit Lions. Her favorite sports movie is “Remember the Titans.”
