Bats and Owls: facts and Folklore

MCC's Sidney campus

Room 138 in the Stanley P. Ash Building

 

Learn about native owls, including their myths, from MCC instructor Cheryl Meyer.  There will be a 20-minute presentation indoors, then approximately 45-50 minutes walking the Kenneth J. Lehman Nature Trails looking and listening for owls.  Dress appropriately for the weather, including boots or snowshoes.  Return to the classroom around 6:20 pm to warm up and wrap up.

Decorative Pine Wreaths

Join committee members in fashioning pine wreathes to decorate your homes this holiday season. Collect your own pine branches (12 to 18-inch lengths) ahead of time (no more than 48 hours) or join us from 5 to 6 p.m. to collect on campus.  Meet in Room 138 in the Stanley P. Ash Building on MCC’s Sidney campus for all activities.  From 6 to 8 p.m., learn to assemble and decorate a wreath.  Wreath frames and plant wire will be provided.  A limited quantity of wire cutters, hand clippers (bypass style), glue guns and a bow maker (requires 10 foot ribbon lengths) will be available for use; additionally, participants may bring their own tools to use. Please bring any natural decorations (pine cones, berries, etc.) and ribbon. There is a $5 charge per person, which is payable at the event; however, pre-registration is encouraged by Monday,Dec. 2 to ensure enough supplies are available.
